Replacing Myself with Code: The Apps Script Revelation

The moment I discovered Google Apps Script was the moment I stopped being a task-taker and started being a systems builder.

By 2015, I had been running my business for four years, but I was hitting a ceiling. I had more clients than hours in the day. Then I found Google Apps Script. I remember the first script I wrote: a simple function to take a form submission and generate a PDF invoice automatically. That 20-minute manual marathon became a 2-second automated event.

This was the turning point. I stopped selling my 'time' and started selling 'outcomes'. I realised that the 'VA' model was broken because it relied on human endurance. By building my own 'VA Operating System', I was able to handle 3x the workload without the burnout.

This wasn't about AI yet; this was about pure, deterministic logic. It was about building a safety net for my business so that if I stepped away, the systems kept running. It is the same philosophy that powers the Script Vault today: give the client sovereignty, but provide the technical backup. This is the 10-year foundation of my architectural practice.
