
Private AI-Native Executive Control Plane & Sanctuary OS
Reclaim is my private AI-native Executive Control Plane, engineered to solve the constant cognitive overload of managing a complex digital estate while raising a family. Rather than acting as another rigid productivity app, it functions as a calm digital sanctuary for life and work, synthesising data from across my Google Workspace into a single, intentional interface.
Built as an offline-first Progressive Web App using React, Google Apps Script, and Google Gemini 3.6 Flash, Reclaim bridges executive intelligence with personal wellbeing. It does not just track what needs to be done; it understands my current workload intensity and ensures those demands remain humanly sustainable.
As my engineering workload became more technically demanding, I began noticing a subtle but exhausting pattern. The issue was never a lack of organisation or forgetting what needed to get done. It was the heavy, continuous cognitive tax of constantly deciding what deserved my attention next.
Traditional productivity methods like the Eisenhower Matrix or "Eat the Frog" are designed to prioritise tasks, but they completely ignore human context and real-time cognitive capacity. They assume you have unlimited mental energy every day, failing to recognise when a high-cortisol inbox should soften expectations, or when you have already spent eight hours deep in complex development.
I did not need another task manager to nag me. I needed an intelligent system that could look at my workload holistically and remind me when it was time to stop.
Reclaim started almost entirely by accident during a late-night experiment with Google Apps Script. I wanted to see if I could write a small prototype that would parse my unread emails each morning and generate a concise daily executive briefing using Google's Gemini API. The goal was not to build a grand application or commercial product; I simply asked myself:
The result was an instant turning point in how I viewed my digital environment. Instead of wading through dozens of emails every morning, I opened a clear, AI-generated summary highlighting critical conversations, deadlines, and client priorities.
That single experiment changed how I thought about Google Workspace as a whole. If AI could parse my email, why could it not understand my calendar? And if it understood my calendar density, why could it not evaluate how intense today actually was - deciding whether my energy should be directed toward deep technical work, light admin, or restorative recovery? That small script gradually became the engine behind Reclaim.

Where Reclaim stopped being about output and became about personal vitality.
At the start of 2026, I set a quiet personal resolution to break a long cycle of chronic stress and physical fatigue. Solo remote work and demanding parenting meant basic self-care had become an afterthought. Refilling a water bottle, taking vitamins, or stepping outside for sunlight was constantly deferred with the promise of "I'll do it when I finish this task" - which often meant three days later.
I also realised that relying on the short school run for daily exercise was an illusion - school does not run on weekends or during holidays in April, July, August, October, and December. For someone who used to be active, sitting at a desk all day was taking a heavy toll. Working from home can also be isolating; time-blindness meant I frequently forgot to check in with friends.
Reclaim naturally evolved from a pure work dashboard into a digital sanctuary: a system that measures not only the software I ship, but whether I am staying healthy and energized enough to keep doing great work tomorrow.

Unlike conventional software that rewards endless hustle, Reclaim actively encourages stopping. To combat developer time-blindness, the interface includes an animated breathing orb that gradually shifts its pulse rate and urgency as workload intensity climbs or as the evening approaches. Working past reasonable hours is not celebrated here; it is recognised as a signal to reset.
When the workday finishes, a single click on End Day transitions the application into Sanctuary Mode. The interface immediately shifts to low-stimulation tones, dims non-essential work modules, and encourages complete mental disconnection. The goal has never been squeezing more hours out of today, but protecting energy and focus for tomorrow.
Each module operates as an autonomous sovereign unit inside the PWA control plane.

As an engineer, I analyse client metrics, platform performance, and operational KPIs all day long. What I realised was missing was a dashboard for myself.
Module 1 turns personal vitality into a core executive metric. By turning self-care into tracked micro-habits - such as hydration targets, daily supplement logs, outdoor movement, and social check-in prompts - Reclaim builds sustainable momentum while ensuring I never feel guilty for taking care of myself.
Working from home is what is best for my family, but without colleagues leaving at 5 PM or nudging me for lunch, it is easy to swing between constant task-switching or late-night hyper-focus that sacrifices sleep.
Building software while managing perimenopausal changes and parenting meant sudden context-switches were heavy on my nervous system. When my kids pop in to ask for a drink or show me the latest YouTube short, I never want to show frustration.
The Focus Engine and Box Breathing Orb were engineered as a fast reset mechanism. The animated orb provides a rhythmic visual anchor, helping me regulate my breathing, decompress from interruptions, and return to flow without feeling overstimulated.


Generic AI meal planners are notoriously frustrating! Constantly suggesting recipes requiring ingredients you do not own, or repeating the same three meals day after day. Reclaim solves this at the architectural level.
Google Apps Script automatically parses my weekly Tesco delivery receipt emails, building an up-to-date inventory of what is actually fresh in the kitchen. By logging expiry dates and tracking unused items in a Google Sheet, Gemini generates meal recommendations based strictly on what is in-date and available; preventing food waste and eliminating daily repetition.
At 5:30 PM, the system prompts the transition into Sanctuary Mode, dimming work interfaces, silencing non-urgent notifications, and shifting focus toward family presence.

Reclaim was not created because the software market needed another task app. It was built out of visceral necessity because I needed a system that respected both the heavy technical demands of software engineering and the human reality of preserving energy, boundaries, and personal wellbeing.
It remains one of the most personal systems I have ever engineered. Every feature, metric, and UI transition exists because it solved a real-world bottleneck in my daily life before being woven into the wider architecture.
Reclaim is engineered as a living architecture. Future iterations focus on deeper biometric integration and unified executive telemetry.
Syncing live step counts, sleep quality, and movement metrics directly into the control plane. Gemini evaluates whether daily activity goals are met and gently prompts physical breaks during long development sessions.
Aggregating digital estate performance and client platform analytics into a single private dashboard, eliminating the need to log into multiple separate analytics consoles.
Expanding the Workspace engine so content ideas captured during flow states automatically populate Google Sheets, triggering Gemini workflows to draft and save structured assets directly to Google Drive.
